The Simeprode speech
After Hillary Clinton's visit to SIMEPRODE, the Monterrey press has been asking about the stark contrasts of a high-technology plant and the poor neighbor surrounding it. Plus, during his speech Governor Natividad González Parás said that the plant gives sufficient electricity for Monterrey metropolitan area. We're talking here of 4 million inhabitants. This plant provides electricity for the Metrorrey system, state government offices, and public lighting.
However, Secretary Clinton emphasized the need to cooperate in sustainable energy as well. She praised the effort made by Tec de Monterrey, UANL, and UT Austin, plus the Institute for ITT (Nuevo León) and wished to see more examples of this in her own country.
